Fishy Business & Medowie Macadamias - Lake Macquarie Pick-ups

Today we head north to the idyllic hideaway of Port Stephens for some 'Fishy Business at the Barramundi Farm'. At the Barramundi Farm we enjoy a delicious morning tea on arrival consisting of fresh scones with jam plus a tea and coffee station. Enjoy a one hour guided tour of the Barramundi and Hydroponics production facility. Our guided tour takes us through the fish productions sheds and the nursery to see the baby barra. The process of growing fish and hydroponic vegetables is explained in a fun and informative manner. You may also have the opportunity to feed the fish and if game, pat 'Big Barry'. The tour ends with a walk through the Hydro-beds to see lush green lettuces, spinach, basil and parsley that are produces using the Barramundi waste. Lunch consists of a crispy barramundi fillet in light batter with a side salad and chips (alternative meal available for non-fish eaters).

After lunch we make our way to Medowie Macadamias for a short visit, talk and free time to browse the shop. Medowie Macadamias is a family-owned farm and  is one of the most southern commercial growing macadamia plantations in Australia. A wonderful way to spend a pre-summer day! Suitable for most abilities.
